So [livejournal.com profile] acidpop25 mentioned a hankering for a rarepair remix. Today, we discussed the topic, came up with some thoughts, etc. etc. eg: No pairings that are listed as 'major pairings' here or here, no pairings that include two 'major' characters (Trio, Ginny, Draco, or Snape, namely), etc. etc. Participants would have to have at least five rarepair fics, and would get one 'safe' fic (one that no-one will remix), and one more with each additional five rarepair fics. Sound like fun? I thought so.

We're thinking of giving about two, two and a half months' writing time, BUT we want to know when the best time to have the fest (in the humble opinions of all you lovely fandomers out there :D) is.

In conclusion: [livejournal.com profile] capitol_barbie, where are you?!

Hello! Well, I'll be the first one to ask then :-P What exactly is a remix, and how does it differ from an exchange or a prompt-based fest?

A remix is an exchange, and technically prompt-based, too. The difference is that, in a remix, participants are assigned another participant, and they basically rewrite a fic that their assignee has written in the past: changing POV, making it more sequel/prequelish, et cetera. Some examples include [livejournal.com profile] hd_remix and [livejournal.com profile] remix_redux. :D

[livejournal.com profile] nqdonne explained it much better than I could here, in the context of a Percy remix fest.

Hope that helps!
